Forestry Tasmania continues to decimate Styx Valley native forests as Bob Brown Foundation ramps up peaceful protests

Updated: Feb 22

This month (February 2024) the Bob Brown Foundation has been highlighting the senseless destruction of some of the last stands of Styx Valley's ancient forests.

Once a haven for giant trees and rainforest species, the Styx Valley is now adorned with monoculture tree plantations as far as the eye can see.

Ali Alishah is currently in the Hobart Remand Centre for taking a stand for ancient forests. You can write to Ali and drop it in to the Hobart Reception Centre at 27-29 Liverpool St, Hobart. Ali will be held in remand until his next in court date on April the 29th.

🎧 Listen to these powerful words from Ali Alishah as he defended World Heritage value forest in the Styx Valley from the loggers’ chainsaws yesterday.

What you can do:

1️⃣ Join one of our forest frontline actions.

2️⃣ March for Forests with us in March 2024, happening nationwide.

3️⃣ If you’re based in lutruwita / Tasmania, vote for a government that will put an end to the destruction of native forests.

Like Ali says, “This election, we have a chance to send a message to all the political parties that the way we manage our environment has to change. It has to change because we have no other options anymore.”
